Malcesine
|
It is often considered as the most evocative town of the Lago of Garda, with the castle hoisted on a cape that declines in the water of the lake. Malcesine, really, has a particular fascination.
The castle has ancient origin: rebuilt thank to the Della Scala family between 1277 and 1387, it was modified by Venetian and Austrian military technicians. Today it holds a museum on the history and the atmosphere of the lake. From the top of its tower it is possible to enjoy a magnificent view.
Near the harbour of Malcesine there is the Palace of the Captains, the church of Santo Stefano is also worthy of a visit.
In a few minutes it's possible to go from the olive trees to the highest summits of the Mount Baldo, tasting the majestic scene of the lake; it is an unique experience.
Mount Baldo can be reached thanks to the cableway Malcesine-Monte Baldo, where the possibilities of excursions are infinite. On the Mount Baldo every season has a irresistible fascination and offers an endless lure to live the mountain in all its different and unforeseeable variations.
The climatic infuence of the lake allows the cohabitation of different natural environments, from the Mediterranean underbrush until the pastures and the cliffs of the higher tops; for this particularity the Mount Baldo has earned the name of 'Garden of Europe', link of the Alps with the Mediterranean.
